Marjorie's Morning

Monday morning in sun-filled colorful Chennai! Smooth flights until some t-storms over India, not bad tho. Arrived on time but one bag was missing resulting in our being at airport an extra 2 hours, but drivers were waiting & patient & one spoke English. Got to Poojapura where we are staying around 2:00 am in sore need of shower & sleep. All’s well this morning, there’s even easy connection to wireless & a MARVELOUS houseboy, Das, where I’m staying. We leave now to get currency exchanged & cell phone, then go to the ICTPH office, & tonite take 10:30 pm train to Tanjavore where we’ll be Tues & Weds. looking at the ICTPH village projects in health care & insurance by microfinance set-up. It’ll be interesting to see what progress has been made in the programs since last year. We are happy campers in a hot Chennai.

  1. Dear Marjorie and Penn students,
I reviewed with a great deal of "awe" your blogs, ate with you, rode the rickshaw in fast moving streets and visited community centers. Your blogs demonstrate the richness of your cultural and nursing experiences and I could not be more pleased. You probably know by now that your experiences are the best because you have as your professor the best global health nurse in the world. I am so proud of you, of what you are learning and we will use your blogs as models for the future. Onward and forward in your journey to become nurses who are citizens of the world.
    Afaf Meleis, your dean.
